Formål: Students completing this course will be able to: - Systematically explain how organs and organ systems are affected by HIV infection; - Differentiate the clinical manifestations of HIV-related diseases; - Recognize benefits and adverse effects of various HIV drug therapies; - Propose relevant diagnosis and treatment strategies for HIV infection according to state-of-the-art guidelines including (multi-) drug resistant HIV; - Propose relevant diagnosis and treatment strategies for both common and severe HIV-related diseases and differentiate across various geographical settings; - Analyse and propose medical preventive measures and treatment related to reproductive health for PLHIV; - Evaluate the impact HIV infection and co-morbidities have on quality of life.

  • Morbidity and mortality in the cART era
  • HIV-related morbidities and co-infections
  • Risk assessment of disease progression for HIV and co-morbidities
  • Diagnosis and monitoring of HIV infection
  • State-of the-art HIV treatment including transmission and treatment of (multi-)drug resistant HIV
  • HIV treatment in low and middle income countries
  • Prevention of mother-to-child transmission and reproductive strategies for PLHIV
  • Therapeutic Drug Monitoring
  • ART adherence
  • Management of side effects to ART and management of treatment failure
  • HIV and Quality of Life
  • HIV biomedical prevention, incl. circumcision
Lærebøger: The course is structured around 10 internet based E-learning modules (E-modules) with weekly deadlines. This means that you as a student can follow the course from anywhere in the world at any time you like. All you need is an internet connection. You will only meet and interact with your teachers and fellow students in the University of Copenhagen's online learning platform. Due to this internet based platform, we have the unique opportunity to attract and offer you teaching from the most prominent and skilled researchers in the world. Each E-module is composed of: An introduction to the topic An overview of the purpose, the subjects and the intended learning outcome A short study guide Learning resources (which can be text, audio and/or video files) Several exercises called E-lessons. The E-lessons are online learning activities which can be questionnaires, assignments, or online discussions. The role of the teacher is to assist student learning by serving as E-moderators for the various E-lessons.

Formelle krav: The applicants must live up to the Master of HIV admission criteria. Furthermore applicants must have min. 2 years of proven experience within treatment or care of HIV/AIDS patients.
Eksamensform: Written course paper: Individual paper.
