Som logopæder bliver vi stillet overfor den faglige udfordring at skulle intervenere og forholde os til mennesker med et kommunikativt handicap og afhjælpe disse specifikke sprog, tale eller stemmemæssige vanskeligheder. Effekten af den intervention afhænger i høj grad af den interpersonelle relation, dvs. hvordan logopæden møder den kommunikationsramte person og hvordan logopæden forholder sig til de følelser, der kan være forbundet med et kommunikationshandicap.
Kognitiv terapi har vundet stor indflydelse i bl.a. behandlingen af stammen. Denne tilgang i behandlingen er anvendelig, dog er den ikke tilstrækkelig, hvis der er problematikker som fx skamfølelser forbundet med kommunikationsvanskeligheden. Den seneste gren inden for den kognitive terapeutiske tilgang, Acceptance and Commitment therapy blander kognitiv terapi og en eksistentiel humanistisk/buddhistisk tilgang, hvor mindfulness har en central plads i behandlingen.
Andre yderst relevante terapeutiske retninger er tilknytningsbaserede korttids psykodynamisk terapi, fx Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) og Emotions-focused Therapy. De sidste to terapiformer fokusere på følelser som det centrale, hvorimod de kognitive terapier har fokus på tankemønstre. |
