This term, the course in Historiography and Dramaturgy will focus on "Gertrude Stein & 20th century dramaturgy"
The idea is to approach some of the major issues in twentieth century and contemporary theatre through Gertrude Stein’s poetics. The course will be an introduction to Stein’s theatre aesthetics, while at the same time we will discuss topics such as theatricality, performance and performativity, and postdramatic theatre.Through Gertrude Stein’s plays and notion of theatre, we can address som of the crucial issues in modernist and post-modernist theatre: the relation between text and performance, the relation between sight and sound, the deconstruction of the autonomous character, etc.
The course is open for exchange students and students from Theatre and Performance Studies.
