Formål: The overall purpose of the course is to provide students with knowledge of various human diseases, and to relate human biology to clinical pathology, pathological anatomy and pharmacology. Special emphasis is given to understanding the biological mechanisms responsible for the occurrence and development of diseases, and for the interplay between the various organ systems during diseases at the structural and functional levels. Instruction in diagnosis and therapy is restricted to their major features. Instruction on the course also aims to provide students with knowledge of current pathology research and an understanding of research-based assessment. It also serves to enhance the interest and ability of students to contribute to disease control and health maintenance through their own efforts in research, development and administration later in their careers. Finally, instruction on the course will help course graduates to communicate academically in a public health environment.
