| Undervisnings- form: |
Lectures, study groups and exercises mixed (6 hours per week). 4 written assignments with running evaluation. All assignments must be passed to succesfully complete the course. |
| Formål: |
The course is intended for students with no prior knowledge of molecular biology. The aim of the course is to give the students an introduction to the basics of molecular biology such that future courses in bioinformatics are comprehendable and can be appreciated. The student will become familiar with membrane structures, proteins and intracellular compartments and also with subjects like genome evolution and experimental methods. |
| Indhold: |
DNA repair, replication, transcription and translation. Regulation of gene expression, cell cycle and cell communication. Proteins, intracellular transport, membrane transport and membrane structures. |
| Målbeskrivelse: |
To obtain the grade 12:
• The student must know and be able to explain the molecular biology and genetics covered in the course.
• The student must be able to use and combine this knowledge to deduce answers about biological problems.
• The student must be able to do the course homework essentially without errors.
