Indhold: The subject of the course will be the adoption of digital tools in film production and their effects on both large-scale Hollywood productions and experimental art films. The course will take up the discussion about whether the modern effects movie constitutes a decisive shift in comparison with the classical Hollywood film, a return to the earliest stages of the development of motion pictures where film was a new medium, or whether continuity is more important. The question of the use of digital tools to achieve heightened verisimilitude on the one hand and a greater degree of stylization on the other will play a central role.
