Samlet oversigt over tid og sted for alle kurser inden for Lektionsplan for Det Naturvidenskabelige Fakultet Efterår 2012 NAT
Undervisnings- periode: August 13-31, 2012
First week at University of Copenhagen, second week at Technical University of Denmark, Third week at Lund University and Maxlab.
Undervisnings- form: Full days (8 hours incl. lunch) with alternating lectures, problem sessions and virtual experiments. For the experiments in the final week, there may be night work for some groups. The course will also include several social arrangements in the evenings, which are optional but recommended.
Formål: Introduction to neutron and X-ray large scale facilities and the possibilities they offer.
Indhold:
  • Introduction to the scientific concepts, e.g. biological matter, materials chemistry, soft matter and hard condensed matter
  • Intuitive overview of basic scattering
  • X-ray and neutron production/facilities
  • Scattering methods including examples from science
  • Problem solving and virtual experiments
  • Hands-on experiments including proposal writing, data analysis and presentation of data
  • Kompetence- beskrivelse: Knowledge of how to use large research facilities within X-ray and neutron science for the study of biological systems (e.g. single proteins and membranes), and chemical/physical properties of materials (e.g. polymers and crystals). After passing the course, the student should be able to participate in the setup, conduction and data analysis of a scattering experiment.
Målbeskrivelse: To pass the course, the student must participate actively in the problem sessions, experiments and final presentation. Furthermore, a report must be written and submitted by September 14th to obtain 7.5 ECTS points.
    Lærebøger: Lecture notes
    Tilmelding:
Registration at selvbetjeningen May 15 - June 1
Eksamensform: The student must participate 80 % of the time and make a presentation during the course. Furthermore a report must be written and approved. Internal censorship. Grading: pass/not-passed.
Re-exam: A new report must be written.
Eksamen: The report must be handed in September 14, 2012.
