Undervisnings- periode: 6. februar til 30. marts 2012. Eksamen i perioden fra 2. – 13. april 2012.
Undervisnings- form: Lectures + Laboratory exercises
Formål: Membrane proteins are key players in cell function. The purpose of this course is to explore this superfamily of proteins (structure and function). The course will end with a review of the use of membrane proteins in Bionanotechnology. Lab exercises will cover a series of standard applications in biochemistry and cell biology for membrane protein investigations.
Indhold: Membrane proteins structure and function Use of membrane proteins in Bionanotechnology Biochemistry on membrane proteins (Lab exercise) Cellular assays on membrane proteins (Lab exercise)
Kompetence- beskrivelse: 1. Explain structure / function relationships of some membrane proteins
2. Run classical experiments for the characterization of membrane proteins.
Lærebøger: Molecular Biology of THE CELL, Alberts, et al.
Faglige forudsætninger: The course Nanobio1
Formelle krav: None
Eksamensform: Laboratory exercises are mandatory. Reports of each laboratory exercise should be submitted no later than one week after each Laboratory exercise. The four reports will be part of the final evaluation and represent 40% of the final grade. The exam will be written (two hours) and will be graded using the 7-step scale with an internal censor.
The re-exam will be oral (10 min preparation + 20 min oral exam) and will be graded using the 7-step scale with an internal censor.
