Samlet oversigt over tid og sted for alle kurser inden for Lektionsplan for Det Naturvidenskabelige Fakultet Forår 2013 NAT
Undervisnings- periode: Uge 6-12 og 14
Undervisnings- form: The form of teaching is class teaching mixed with lectures and PC based exercises.
Indhold:
Morphodynamic modelling for calculation of water flow, sediment transport and morphological change in fluvial and estuarine environments using the DHI-MIKE 11 model complex. For coastal environments, the DHI-LITPACK model complex will be applied to solve modelling problems related to non-cohesive sediment transport, shoreline change, sediment budgets and cross-shore profile development.
Kompetence- beskrivelse:
Using practical PC-based exercises, this course aims to provide students with a theoretical knowledge on detailed hydrodynamic and geomorphic processes related to the transport of sediment in fluvial, estuarine and coastal environments. Further, to provide the student with practical numerical modelling skills to simulate this transport using the DHI modelling tools MIKE11 and LITPACK. Specific emphasis will be put on the ability of the student to assess which processes and parameterizations that are relevant in various real world situations. The course will be organized taking into consideration current research projects and topics of current interest.
Målbeskrivelse:
Upon the conclusion of the course, the student should be able to
• delimit, prepare and accomplish solutions of fluvial and tidal problem complexes using MIKE11
• understand the principles behind nearshore wave transformation and the processes derived from those transformations using the LITPACK modelling complex
• assess, analyze and evaluate the validity of numerical model simulations
• simulate and analyze long term morphological change
Course requirements: To follow this course, it is recommended that the student has obtained a basic knowledge on fluvial, estuarine and coastal processes, corresponding to the BSc level taught in Physical Geography.
Tilmelding: Via KUnet mellem den 15. november og 1. december.
Eksamensform: Written report and oral examination internal examiner, grading according to the 7-point grading scale. The exam takes 20 min. including grading. Make-up exam as ordinary exam. The student will have a chance to improve a not passed report and resubmit it.
Eksamen: Aflevering af afløsningsopgave d. 4. april og mundtlig prøve d. 11. april 2013.
Reeksamen: Aflevering af afløsningsopgave d. 24. juni og mundtlig prøve d. 27. juni 2013.
