Eksperimentelle gruppeprojekter med intensiv vejledning i forbindelse med planlægning af projekt og udførelse af feltarbejdet. Grupperne fremlægger deres plan for hele holdet. |
| Formål: |
At give de studerende et indgående kendskab til arktiske forhold. At tilrettelægge, gennemføre og afrapportere et videnskabeligt feltprojekt. Gennem et bredt og selvoplevet kendskab til arktisk diversitet på arts- og samfundsniveau vil deltagerne kunne bidrage til formidling og diskussion om arktiske områders specielle problemstillinger. |
| Indhold: |
Planlægning og design af et feltbaseret projekt i små grupper. Udførelse af feltarbejdet på Arktisk Station i Qeqertarsuaq. Bearbejdelse og sammenskrivning af indsamlede data. Redigering af den samlede rapport. Der vil indgå ekskursioner i Illulissat og Kangerlussuaq, hvor samfundene er meget forskellige fra forholdene i Qeqertarsuaq. |
| Målbeskrivelse: |
Dependent of the theme of the project, the students can after completing the course:
- Discuss and understand the scientific process from the idea of a project to completing a report of the study
- Carry out practical field work with all its challenges and changes during the accomplishment
- Analyse accumulated data statistically
- Include general morphological, physiological and reproductive strategies in arctic organisms in the discussion of the acquired results
- Include general population dynamics in relation to the theme of the project
- Include general element cycling of the Arctic in the discussion of the acquired results.
- Include general knowledge on arctic abiotic conditions in the treatment of the results of the project
- Mediate the ideas of the project and the acquired results in terms of a project report and in an oral presentation of the investigation

| Eksamensform: |
For each project students will write a report in English based on the results of their investigations. The report is similar to the format of a scientific paper. The examination is a 20-minute oral examination where the students individually present their study and its results. The presentation is followed by questions to the report as well as relevant background literature to the project. Finally an English report based on all project reports performed during the Arctic Field Course will be published on behalf of Arctic Station. Evaluation after the 7-point grading scale. Internal censorship. |
