This is a distance learning course without regular instruction. All assignments will be completed individually and in group work and will be handed in at the end of the course. There will be one mandatory meeting at the beginning of the course.

Formål:
The aim of this distance learning course is to develop students’ advanced knowledge in Sport and Exercise Psychology. Students will read about the core topics of Sport and Exercise Psychology and apply the newly acquired knowledge in different exercises. The goal is to strengthen the students’ understanding of how psychological factors influence participation and performance both in the exercise as well as the sport setting.
Indhold:
The course is divided into two modules. The first module focuses on psychological antecedents, outcomes, and interventions of health-related exercise and physical activity and is composed of 9 different topics. The second module addresses contemporary areas and issues of interest to sport psychologist practitioners. The module includes a total of 13 different topics and is designed to offer a broad perspective of applied sport psychology. The following points are provided for each topic in the two modules: key concepts, required reading, additional reading, review questions and exercises.
Målbeskrivelse:
After completion of the two modules the students should be able to:
  • Define sport psychological terms in connection to sport and exercise psychology
  • Describe and summarize theories and models encountered in the reading material
  • Apply the acquired knowledge to personal sport situations and to new cases
  • Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of different sport psychological research methods
  • Design a short sport psychological questionnaire
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of different sport psychological interventions
  • Analyze and discuss the advantages and disadvantages of different theories

    Kriteriebeskrivelse af karakteren 12:
  • The student completes all of the assignments in a detailed manner
  • The assignment shows a deep understanding of the read material
  • The student clearly shows critical reflection on the read material
  • The student shows his / her ability to apply and transfer the sport psychological knowledge to new contexts
  • The assignments are well-written and show use of the appropriate sport psychological format
  • Tilmelding: Fra den 15. maj - 1. juni via KUnet.
    Eksamensform:
    Students are obligated to complete 11 of the 21 topics in order to pass the course. Four topics (two from exercise and two from sport psychology) need to be completed individually. The remaining 7 topics can be completed in group work (maximum three people to a group).
    The course will be evaluated as pass/fail based on all 11 assignments. Internal censorship.

    Re-examination: As ordinary examination.
    Eksamen: Løbende evaluering. Reeksamen: Genaflevering af opgaver den 17. april 2013.
