| Indhold: |
The exact content of the course may be influenced by students and their particular interests. Examples presented are mainly based on case-studies from developing countries but include examples from Europe and the USA. The following topics are likely to be part of the content; Aproaches to land evaluation and land use planning; Resource inventory and allocation: the Abiotic, Biotic, Cultural (ABC) concept in a planning context; Institutional aspects of resource management and land administration; Resource development: Forecasting, monitoring and risk; Plans and reality: empirical examples; Strategies, knowledge and extension: goal oriented interventions; Adaptive management |
| Kompetence- beskrivelse: |
The aim of the course is for students to get acquainted with a number of different methods and tools available for land evaluation, land use planning and resource management. Physical, socio-economic and institutional aspects of managing the use of land are considered. The course subjects fall within the following broad categories: resource perception and analysis, development opportunities and scenarios for sustainable exploitation. Sub-themes deal with
land use, integrated land use management, rural-urban fringe/peri urban land use, planning systems/institutions, land development.

Upon completion of the course, students should be able to:
understand basic theory.
read and understand scientific texts.
structure minor assignments.
Understand scientific problems including the ability to asess and choose the correct method of analysis.
present and communicate scientific subjects orally as well as in writing.

Written assignment with oral exam, internal censorship, 7-levels scale.
Examination form: Set oral examination (written report and curriculum) without preparation time
Form of assessment: The examination is graded according to the 7-point grading scale.
Grading: Internal examiner
Scope: The examination takes 20 minutes, inclusive grading
Make-up exam: As ordinary exam.

The report must be submitted on the 15th of January 2013 at 11am in three copies in room 04.1.411 and the oral examination is between the 21th-24th of January 2013.
Re-examination: Report must be submitted on the 15th of April and oral examination on the 17th of April 2013. |
