Samlet oversigt over tid og sted for alle kurser inden for Lektionsplan for Det Naturvidenskabelige Fakultet Efterår 2012 NAT
Undervisnings- periode: Week 36-44 and week 47-51 and 1-3
Undervisnings- form: The form of teaching and work will be lectures, seminars, and PC-based hands-on exercises, student presentations and group-discussions.
Indhold: More advanced physical principles in optical and thermal remote sensing, reflectance and emissions. Remote sensing sensors and platforms, data and data formats, data processing and modelling. Hyperspectral remote sensing. Vegetation parameters (vegetation indices, net primary production). Trend analysis and land change modelling. Global trend studies. Data quality and uncertainties. Remote sensing applications in hydrology (soil moisture, evapotranspiration, flooding). Remote Sensing of fires. Remote sensing of Snow and Ice. Remote Sensing software.
Kompetence- beskrivelse: At the end of the course the student should have the necessary background for independent analysis and synthesis of satellite based remote sensing of the Earth by applying a wide spectrum of Earth Observation (EO) data types and analysis methodologies.
Upon completion of the course, students should be able to
• conduct analysis and interpretation of satellite remote sensing data independently using existing image processing software.
• select appropriate EO data and methodology for a remote sensing written report, with the support of literature, in application areas covering soil, vegetation, water resources or human usage of natural resources.
• identify and describe most recent data types, products and state of the art algorithms within land surface remote sensing.
• gather information/research literature concerning a remote sensing subject area independently.
• assess the uncertainty and data quality and understand and describe the limitations of the EO technology currently in use, to be able to draw critical and qualified conclusions.
• integrate EO data with other data in geographical information systems
Have become familiar with various image processing systems
Målbeskrivelse: The aim of the course is to provide students with detailed knowledge of satellite based remote sensing of the Earth – with specific focus on the global land surface and environemental applications. Focus will be on theory and methods of optical and thermal infrared remote sensing (physical principles, electromagnetic radiation, atmospheric correction, image processing techniques, etc.) and applications hereof.
