| Indhold: |
This course will focus on medieval English literature and thereby provide the background
for modern fiction and establish a literary continuity. A wide variety of genres will be
presented, and among the works will be texts from Anglo-Saxon England (in translation),
works by Geoffrey Chaucer, Breton lais, 13th century texts, narrative poems and prose texts
plus extracts from the last of the truly great works of the late Middle Ages.

There will be readings and discussions of medieval ballads and lyrisc and selections from
Beowulf, Marie de France's lais, Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, selected Canterbury Tales plus
The Land of Cokayne, Sir Orfeo and Malory's Morte Darthur.The texts are available in English Norton I.
