Indhold: |
The course will look at the ways in which the human body has been defined and organised in Chinese society over time. What did “Confucians” think of the body? How have bodies been disposed of through execution or organ selling? Why were feet bound? Why were some men castrated? What is a beautiful body? May it have a tattoo? Why were the Olympic Games so important to China? These and other questions will be at the centre of the course. We will try to answer them by looking at Chinese material and asking what theories are available to explain it. |
