Indhold: Mulplicity of Methods and Theories in the Study of Islam
This course will give a thorough introduction to a wide range of methods applied in the study of Islam. The relationship between theoretical and methodological approaches to the study of religion and Islam will be elaborated, discussed and analyzed in relation to the challenge posed by poststructuralist, deconstruction and critical theories. The methods and theories concerned will include qualitative social research such as anthropology and sociology, hermeneutics and normative disciplines such as political sciences, law and theology. Throughout the course the students will expected to present and partake actively. The two PhD projects of the instructors will be actively included in order to discuss and test the applicability and use of the multiple methods and disciplines in these projects.
