Første undervisningsgang: Mandag d. 21. sept. – fredag d. 2. okt
Undervisnings- form: Undervisningen gives som 28 timers mundtlig forelæsning og holdundervisning med aktiv inddragelse af de studerende og er skemalagt til uge 39 og 40 i 2009, således at der i alt undervises i 3 timer om dagen mandage – torsdage, samt 2 timer på fredage i de to uger.
Formål: BA-tilvalg, KA-tilvalg, samt seminar for alle interesserede
Indhold: The leading British expert Prof. Julian Reade will give lectures and conduct seminars on the Assyrian imperial palaces. The course will cover the design, function and evolution of palaces which were the principal state residences and administrative centres of the Assyrian empire as it expanded across the entire Near East. The course will also explore how much the extensive wall decorations and varied contents of these buildings, mainly those at Nimrud, Khorsabad and Nineveh, tell us about historical, cultural and social developments during the ninth-seventh centuries BC.
