Indhold: It is normally assumed that Grundtvig (1783-1872) is premodern when he emphasises the Folk (the community of the ethnic group) and the congregational gathering as the one and only place where life can be lived and Christian faith be conveyed and nurtured. His concepts of man, history, Christianity and Church must, however, be studied as a challenge to Human and Christian Life at any time and place.

Course books: Martin Schwartz: A Church History of Denmark, Ashgate 2002, A. M. Allchin: N. F. S. Grundtvig. An Introduction to his Life and Work, Aarhus University Press together with texts by Grundtvig.
